I recently came across a post asking “what is a good sales lead?” and have decided to write my first post…
A sales lead is simply an introduction/suggestion for the sales person to explore and establish if there is a business opportunity.
A warm sales lead is when the business/person you are contacting has been made aware that you will be in contact.
A qualified sales lead is different and completely based around the product/service you are trying to sell, where the person supplying the lead has a good enough knowledge of your business to be confident that there is an opportunity and the business/person you are contacting is waiting for your call.
In my opinion the key is understanding what type of lead you have received, the additional research you undertake and the best sales approach to take (usually bespoke to each potential client).
I hope this helps people to understand what leads they have received and hopefully will help people to make a more measured approach to each potential client, hopefully resulting in more SALES!
